Carlow National School, Co. Carlow

Welcome

Carlow National School is a co-educational primary school under Church of Ireland management. Its patron is Bishop Adrian Wilkinson of the United Diocese of Cashel, Ferns and Ossory.

"We hope the children who journey through their Primary Education in our school experience a holistic, child centred approach. An approach that values inclusivity, respect and kindness, where children feel welcomed and wanted as part of our CNS family. Children are taught the curriculum but their voice and interests are also heard and encouraged. Each child's uniqueness is considered, so they can discover their learning style to allow them reach their potential, gain confidence and happiness. Our approach and openness to Educational initiatives, change and research has allowed us to form wonderful partnerships in the community and therefore provide the benefits to our pupils. We value positive relationships and respect between staff and pupils and our wider school community. This is important in fostering a happy, positive school culture, where the wellbeing of staff and pupils is prioritised. We are very proud of our school and are known for our "Welcome" and continue to do our best for all our pupils present and in the future."

This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used to purchase laptops and tablets for supporting children's learning in literacy and numeracy.
